Hey Joel,
Sorry to ask about Monarch again,but the NWS forecast for “Monarch,CO” is still looking fairly conservative as far as snow totals. Out of curiosity, the detailed point forecasts for that particular area on the NWS map appear to be looking at an area just outside the Poncha Springs/Salida area rather than actually further west on 50 closer to the top of Monarch Pass itself. Is the NWS forecast for “Monarch,CO” an accurate representation of what conditions might be like closer to the ski area?

Chris – will update the forecast tonight (Wednesday) and it will be ready first thing Thursday morning. You will have some snow at Keystone Fri and this weekend, and some more during the middle of next week (~Wednesday). Keystone won’t see the biggest totals in the state, but it will get some fresh.

Todd – there will be snow at Monarch on Friday, and 6-12″ is still a decent guess. But my thought is that most of this will fall during the day and evening, so it won’t be ready for you early in the AM. Also, it will be very windy on Friday. Based on the wind forecast for Friday, somewhere sheltered like Beaver Creek might be a better bet. The best snow for Summit and Eagle Co. will hold off until Saturday and Sunday, though.
